Although technically it is not July 28th anymore, I am going to consider this blog entry for that date. Seems like all my posts end up being after midnight for some reason. I missed my quota yesterday of one blog, one article, but I am giving myself some slack since I posted two articles the day before. :-)    Hopefully, I will be awake long enough to get an article on here tonight after I am done writing here.

My day was long and tiring…I should be in bed asleep. It started out relatively quiet, but got more and more active as the day went on.

We all woke up to a breakfast of donuts. My dad bought a strange brand called “TastyKake” and Wal-Mart, but they aren’t too bad. Then I called my cousin to see if she wanted to meet me and my brood at a local playplace for lunch. She said yes.

Well, we got to McDonald’s and the entire area was blocked off by a huge piece of plywood. It was under renovation! My kids were devastated and I had no idea what to do. Then…out of the blue…this wonderfully nice young man, sitting with his girlfriend, spoke up and told me about a Burger King down the road with a kids playarea. (Light at the end of the tunnel!)

So, I called my mother to call my cousin to change where we would meet and got my kids all back in the car.

The playarea was perfect! I was so excited. The girls took off and had an absolute ball playing with their cousins! I think it is so cute when my kids call my cousin “aunt”. (I hope she doesn’t mind! :-P )

Okay…I must segway a bit here, because I don’t get this at all. My cousin has a neighbor who is a good friend. This friend has two boys. I met them the other day at my cousin’s house, and they really hit me the wrong way from the start. The oldest boy is rough and hit my kids several times…which I didn’t appreciate at all! And the husband made a snide comment about my being crazy for having 4 kids…I hate when people say stupid stuff like that!!!

Anyway, today they showed up at the playarea, too. It is a free country, they are allowed. However, the husband showed his idiotic side once again:

I guess the friend had walked into the house earlier that day and found the two boys really fighting hard. One had a gash under one eye that wasn’t exactly small. Well, the husband had taught his kids to hold back info from the wife about fighting. Seen the movie “Fight Club”? Well, the husband tells his boys to say “Fight club, I don’t know anything!” Isn’t that the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever heard? If my husband did that, I would be extremely mad! Not only is he basically approving of fighting, but he is telling his children to keep information from their mother. That is so wrong!

    So, back to my day.

The kids played and played for a long time. They didn’t want to go, even 2 1/2 hours later! We did finally leave, though, as it was getting late and my sister and her kids were arriving tonight.

Well, we arrived at home and, of course, the kids would not nap. Why do I think that they will? They had some quiet time, I did some odds and ends, then they got up from not sleeping.

This led to some card playing, painting with water and watching of DVDs…then dinner. My brother finally got home from a doctor’s appointment with a feast of steak, crab legs, tuna steaks and shrimp! (It was my parents’ anniversary.) Should I tell you about the obese lady who hit my brother’s car in the doctor’s parking lot with no insurance? Nah…I’ll leave that for another day. :-D

After dinner, it was bath time…then my sister and her kids finally arrived. She brought a cake with her, and my kids got to have a piece. I’m so glad they went to sleep, because they have had soda, ice cream and cake today…lots of sugar!!!

Then the big kids (AKA the adults) played cards until almost 11 PM. Luckily, I did not have many articles actually due today with strict deadlines. I did what I had due just under the wire!

Now I’ve finished research on several more blog posts for another board I write for…

It’s 1:15 AM. I think I’m going to cut myself some slack again and go to bed. I’m tired.
