    According to the Travel Industry Association, camping is the number one outdoor activity in the United States.  Nearly one third of U.S. adults say they have gone on a camping vacation in the past three years.
     

    According to the US Travel Industry Association, these are the top campgrounds in the USA:

    • Allegany State Park, New York
    • Choctaw Lake Campground, Ackerman, Mississippi
    • Copper Falls State Park in Wisconsin
    • Fallen Leaf Campground, California
    • Guadalupe River State Park in Texas
    • Juniper Springs Recreational Area/Ocala National Forest, Silver Spring, Florida
    • Lake Michigan at Manistee National Forest in Michigan
    • Seneca Shadows/Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia
    • Steamboat Lake State Park in Colorado
    • Waveland Park in Arkansas

    Try Yellowstone National Park in Montana/Wyoming or Teton National Park in Wyoming for the top park to spend a summer in, according to the TIA.  The Great Smokey Mountain Park was voted fourth best; it’s also the only one on the list east of the Mississippi River.
     

    Looking for a scenic view at your campsite?  Try Brady Mountain Campground at Lake Ouachita, Arkansas; Chittenango Falls State Park in New York or Coral Pink Sand Dunes in Kanab, Utah.
     

    Hiking more your style?  The best hiking trails were found in Salt Point State Park in Jenner, California.  Second on the list is Harriman State Park in Beaver Pond, New York.  If you’re in the Midwest, Coralville Lake offers the best trails.  Coralville Lake is located in Iowa.
     

    If you’re packing the whole family, kids and all, the most family-friendly camping spots were found at Douthat State Park in Millboro, Virginia, Myrtle Beach State Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Shoal Bay Campground in Dardanelle Lake, Arkansas.
     Some hidden secret treasure campsites include:
    Cedar Lake Recreational Area- OK
    This 86-acre lake is surrounded by oak, hickory and pine covered hills and is the perfect place to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
     

    Laguna Campground- CA
    A haven for wildlife and plants! Campers come here to hike the Laguna Meadow Trail System and much more.
     

    Lepage Park- OR
    Lepage Park offers visitors a chance to see and stay at one of the many locations where Lewis and Clark camped.
     

    Norway Beach Recreational Area- MN
    Norway Recreational Area offers a variety of family activities including 171 camping sites, interpretive trails, sandy beaches, paved biking trails and more.
     

    Outflow Campground- PA
    Come and play in the great outdoors in the heart of the Laurel Highlands in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
     

    Prairie Flower Campground- IA
    Recreation abounds right outside your camper! Swimming, fishing, disc golfing, interpretive programs for all ages and much more.
     

    Robert W. Craig Campground- WV
    Jennings Randolph Lake is a highly desired and unspoiled recreation destination rooted within the winding gorge of the Potomac River.
     

    Salt Springs Recreation Area- FL
    There is a beautiful 5-mile canoe trail that meanders down Lake George! If you want to enjoy Florida’s beautiful tropical setting, head to Salt Springs.
     

    Winhall Brook- VT
    Winhall Brook is nestled in the green mountains of Vermont along the Winhall Brook and the West River. This campground has a strong appeal to the outdoorsman at heart.
