Where has this ArsC editor been for the past two months since her last personal post? My goodness…the list is long.
In my professional life, I’ve changed careers. Ending 4 years in the healthcare industry, I’ve moved to the airline industry. I’m very excited about the change and very much enjoying my new organization, although I miss my friends and coworkers from the position I’ve left tremendously.
In my freelancing life, I took about one month off from accepting assignments, to settle into my new company and the new routine my husband and I had to work out to account for the fact that at the same time, he moved from night shift to day shift. I tell people that the change is amazing - for our entire relationship, with very few exceptions, he’s worked nights, but now that he’s on a similar work schedule as I am, I can actually pretend that I’m married! 
After that month off, I picked up a number of assignments both individually and through ArticleAuthors. Some of the assignments look to continue on a long-term basis, and I am very excited about that.
In my personal life, I’ve seen my two goddaughters go through their dedication ceremonies, have completed unpacking in my new home, have helped to lay flooring with family in their home, have entertained houseguests visiting from California and Washington, and have enjoyed some “us time” with Chris. Having a bit of down time in there after having so many months of crazy schedules and tasks was tremendously helpful in building myself back up.
So what’s on the horizon? I’ve previously announced several writing projects that I wish to undertake on my own, that will be hosted by ArsC. I’m now in a position and have the time to actually bring those projects from thoughts to conclusions. I’m not going to hold myself to a specific time frame, but look for the following over the next few weeks and months:
1. A continuation on my series of articles related to immigration. One article is in progress as we speak and I’ve outlined the others.
2. A continuation on my series of articles related to alcohol laws and drinking violations within the state of Texas. A good bit of this writing is already completed and simply needs editing before being published.
3. A new series of articles related to personal responsibility. Again, a good bit of this writing is already completed and simply needs editing before being published.
4. NASCAR and other sports news, views and diatribes as the various seasons move forward.
5. Book reviews - believe it or not, almost a dozen are in progress! I’ve just lacked the time to bring them to conclusions!
