Being a mom is probably the most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life. However, it has certainly wrecked havoc on my body! The baby belly just won’t seem to go away and the stretch marks will be around forever.

Gyms certainly don’t make transitioning from flabby mom to fit mom easy, though. You would think that their outrageous charges for the use of some equipment would allow for some child care…or at least they would allow us to bring our children with us, so long as they are in a car seat or stroller. I am not finding this the case, though.

I have been a member of 4 different gyms in my lifetime…and they all cost what amounts to “an arm and a leg”! I have been a member of 2 different gyms since becoming a mom, and both times child care was not included - so I was paying “an arm and two legs”!

So, why am I writing this blog today? Well, I went to a little hole in the wall facility today run by the county. It is located inside a community center down the street from me. I looked at the price list and thought I should give it a go.

Wrong! Once I stated I would be coming with my child, they informed me this was against policy. WHY? My child will be contained in a stroller less than a foot from me and I will leave if he becomes vocal in any way.

Since this facility has no child care, I guess I am just out of luck. I don’t have a home with room for a step machine or a treadmill, but I cannot afford the extreme price of “designer gyms”.

With the focus on obesity in this country, you’d think public service agencies would give us moms a break and create a gym we can use to get back into shape. I guess I will just have to keep dreaming…
