In this week’s Time Magazine, a piece states that new internet blogs are increasing at the rate of 100,000 per day. Another fact is that, every day, over one million posts are made to individual blogs.

Hmmm…do you think this will make children sit up and pay more attention in their grammar and punctuation classes, or do you think that it will simply mean a glut of poorly written on-line diaries?

I wonder if this will bring back the lost art of letter writing; after all, if so many folks are now staring at their screens, wouldn’t it make sense that the written word will once again have more significance?

What do you think will happen regarding love letters? Do you think it will bring back a touch of romance that has been on hold for some time? If so many people are becoming more comfortable putting their thoughts into well-worded phrases, perhaps we should all start expecting a few more sizzles in our mailboxes…

I don’t know. I think some blogs simply exist to give writers their 15 minutes of fame. Personally, I’m not interested in other’s blogs, except for the ones that make me laugh or have really great photographs. When our fearless leader first proposed ARS Compendium to us back in the summer, I was the hesitant one. I did not wish to spend what little free time I have boring the world with my uneventful life situations. However, my view has changed 180 degrees since then.

Here at ARS, we are already professional writers who, for the most part, freelance for more than one organization. We write here because we wish to share not only our thoughts, but to bring you, the reader, a proliferation of insight and entertainment, through a variety of subject matter. Some may be funny and some may be instructive, but we don’t allow provocation to cross the line into offensiveness. I guess that’s why I enjoy being here, and why I hope you continue to keep visiting us. We offer more than those other 99,999 blogs that are starting every day. Although our posts are far from the one million scored across the planet, we usually have something that you can take away with, to mull over for a little while. At least that is our hope.

So, a big “Thank you” goes out today for those of you who continue to check in every so often here at ARS to see what’s new. We know that there are many more choices that are fighting for your time and attention, and hope that you continue to keep us as one of your favorite bookmarks!
