So something got me thinking, as I’ve been developing The Internet Jewelry Forums , and that is whether a niche could truly become too saturated and thus not be worth getting into? I mean, look at Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. I know around my old state of CT, there were several stores of the same chain within 2 miles of each other. 2 MILES! One would think that would be cause for concern for generating traffic for each store, but the statistics don’t lie. Strength in numbers and brand awareness is a good thing. People recognize the name, and regardless of location and how many there are, people still go and buy.
As a web developer, I have several sights that dominate certain markets and do amazingly well. Now, I’ve recognized the need to consolidate discussions centered around jewelry and i’ve built the site to do it. The market for social discussions surrounding jewelry isn’t THAT extensive, however, I’ll face the challenges of getting new people on board (literally) to talk about it.
Are there too many websites in this niche…time will tell on this one. Personally, I don’t think so
