About This Editor: I am a writer. Have been writing for other sites, but expect to do most of my future work HERE! My expertise extends from the esoteric such as burning hydrogen to the unpredictability of the stock market and my writing makes me a jack of all trades and exasperated master of none. I have had some influence over national wildfire and water policy and there are hints of a change in energy policy, BUT as Samuel Goldwyn once said, "A verbal promise is not worth the paper it is written on."

I am the proud owner of four watches, five if you count the antique 14K gold pocket watch my grand-father bought to celebrate his good fortune in America about one hundred years ago and engraved with that year, either 1903 or 1907, on the back. My brother has physical possession of this family heir loom so I can’t check it physically at the current moment but my father left it to me as a family keepsake and I will be quite happy to take possession of it when I get around to it.

The other four time pieces consist of three Swiss Army brand wrist watches that I acquired as gifts a couple of years ago and a Rolex Submariner that I paid ten or twenty dollars for, saying something succinct about its quality since anyone familiar with Rolex watches knows they can start at one thousand dollars or more, sometimes much more, making it clear that my Rolex is a knock off. Still I sometimes wear it when I want to feel rich.

The Swiss Army watches are all genuine, however, although they have gone through several batteries each and two have metal bands in place of the worn out leather straps they started out with, while the third still has its original band since I haven’t worn it much. The fact they retail for between one hundred and fifty and three hundred and fifty dollars is one source of appeal since it means they’re considered better quality that most Japanese brand watches such as Casio, Seiko or Citizen.

When it comes to watches, I guess I’m like Frankie Muniz or Reggie Jackson or Jerry Seinfeld are with cars. It has become a serious hobby. Although I am not in their league and can’t afford anything like the custom garage Seinfeld has built for his collection. Perhaps that is why I am going to join www.jewelryforums.org, once I get around to it.
