Technomarine is a comparatively new luxury watch company, having been established in 1997. In comparison, Rolex, one of the best known, if not the most recognized luxury watch brand has been selling watches for something over one hundred years.
Unlike older competitors, but like Swatch, also a comparative new comer, Technomarine is into color plus it offers a choice of interchangeable watch bands, increasing what some purchasers would view as the number of choices available. Another feature that catches your eye is the use of large numerals on the dial, making the watches easy to read.
Since Swatch has been around much longer than Technomarine it offers a far greater number of watch models to choose from but with Swatch you are talking about plastic and other cheap materials so the watches can retail for eighty dollars and up. For Technomarine, the emphasis is on stainless steel and diamonds meaning prices start at more than one thousand dollars per watch.
Swatch also tends to prefer a round shape for the watch itself whereas Technomarine includes rectangular bodies and even triangles and there is an emphasis on diamonds around the bezel and even around the subdials.
Model names give you a good idea of what Technomarine is offering. Diva Steel features diamonds on the bezel and two or three subdials, starting at $4,900. Butterfly also features diamonds on a convex rectangular body and diamonds encircling the two subdials. Technomarine sells this model for $4,400.
The Hummer Watch is for car enthusiasts. It sells for $1,450 and with diamonds goes for $8,000.
Finally, there is the Maori Medium which features a triangular face and is encrusted with diamonds in swirling patterns. It lists for $5,500.
The company has several other models in a similar price range with the emphasis on color, diamonds and a Technomarine design.
Since watches are obviously a hobby of mine, I continue to participate at www.jewelryforums.com
