I thought it was time to write a piece in praise of my fellow writers and this site, which is a first class opportunity, at least for me and probably some of my colleagues, to showcase our writing skills.
This site is run by a nice fellow who uses the moniker “Jeeplaw.” He is a lawyer by day and a, gasp, webmaster by night, having put up some other sites, including a board for chatting about jewelry at www.jewelryforums..org, a light board about ghosts of all things at www.realghostpictures.net, a seasonal board for holiday recipes at http://www.christmas-recipes.net/, and a writer’s board at www.articleauthors.net, where there is a lot of paid work for active writers like me and the others who post here. (Feel free to visit any of these sites to see what it is all about.) I particularly find it very interesting to see how traffic builds up over time.
Since I have posting privileges here and I want to build my resume to show what I can do and am enjoying writing, I contribute here a lot. Soon I will be the number two poster on this site in terms of articles put up and probably in terms of hits, too. Right now I am number three behind two nice writers named Rebecca Lanham and Karen Amato Schwartz, who clearly write faster than I do.
This site is paid for by Google ads. But articleauthors.net, on a mostly first come, first taken basis offers decent paid work such as writing articles about mortgages, herbs, bed and breakfasts, cheap car insurance, limo hires and so on. Right now, there is a lot of work from eHow, the how to do (almost) anything site owned by Google, so when you see a credit that says written by a “professional” member of articleauthors it means many of the members of this crew and when eHow says how to do almost anything they mean it. From installing batteries to articles about perfume to using nail polish to travel tips. Since I have done a lot of traveling, very quite possibly the subject of a future article, I have been happy and proud to contribute a few articles giving traveling tips and also have written a simple article on how to buy a boat on eBay, which I was very happy to contribute.
While I enjoy writing about education, herbs, stocks and the like here, I eagerly await more eHow work because, first, it pays and, secondly, because it is a good writing job that beefs up my resume.
Bring on the writing and the eHows. Hip, hip, hooray. Go Google.
