Florida is a very popular vacation spot for people of all ages. There is so much to do there. Everyone is bound to find something that they will enjoy while vacationing in Florida. One of the biggest lures in Florida is the many beaches all up and down the coast. Beaches are definitely a must do for everyone who takes a trip to Florida.

Daytona Beach is probably one of the most popular of the beaches in Florida. This beach is a very popular vacation spot for the college spring break crowd. It is located on the Atlantic Coast. The Main Street Pier features rides and shops for tourists to enjoy. The Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse is also a must see in the Daytona area.

Caladesi State Park is another great beach. This one is located on the Gulf Coast of Florida a little ways north of Tampa. This beach is on an island and is a very secluded beach only accessible by boat. These boats depart both ways hourly so tourists can travel between the mainland and the island fairly easily. Turtles and sea birds grace the island with their presence.

Bethune and New Smyrna Beaches are two more of the Atlantic coast beaches. These two are connected and offer a variety of beach experiences. The north half of the beaches allow tourists to drive out onto the sand and enjoy the ocean. The southern half does not allow for motor vehicles as it is a natural preserve. There is also a picnic area where beachgoers can enjoy their lunch or supper on the beach.

For those tourists who want a less traveled beach, Sanibel Island is a great choice. This beach is located near the southern end of Florida on the Gulf coast side. There isn’t much tourism located in the immediate area, so there are no large hotels. This island is well known for the shelling capabilities. Immediately following high tide, there are so many interesting shells to discover. The island is also home to J.N. Ding “Darling” Wildlife Refuge. This area may be entered for an additional fee.

The Florida Keys also has a long list of beaches available to tourists. These beaches boast white sand and crystal clear blue water. Fishing, Picnicking, and Snorkeling are popular activities for the Keys’ beaches.

One of the most popular areas for tourists is the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Beach area. This area covers more than 35 miles of beaches ranging from secluded beaches with lots of privacy to full-blown tourist areas. Shops line the streets and there are also other non-beach activities for tourists to enjoy.

For the adults that are a little braver, Florida is also home to several nude and clothing-optional beaches. Pasco County just north of Tampa and Miami-Dade County are two areas that have nude or clothing-optional beaches. Other areas of the state strictly forbid nudity on their beaches. One must be careful to know the ordinances of the area.

Florida’s beaches are a great place to relax while vacationing. Everyone can find something to do at the beach to fit their tastes. And Florida is one of the best places to go when it comes to its beaches. White sands and relaxation is almost the state pastime in Florida.
