There have been a few questions bouncing around my brain for the last few days, and perhaps if I put them out there, fate will send me some answers. Now mind you, these are not exactly the deepest and most compelling questions of life, but the kind of things that slowly eat away at a sense of rationality, leaving one perplexed for the long term.

First, did you ever notice that, perhaps once a month, you get circulars in the mail stating that a particular store is having the “biggest sale ever”? Now, these always leave me feeling angry at the store, because it’s clear that if they can afford sales like this, it must mean that everything is being way overpriced to begin with. Add to that the fact that these sales are on-going, consumers are looked at as fools. Perhaps next year I will save all ads to see just how many times the “biggest sale ever” occur; my guess it will be about every 6 weeks…

Second, just where do the people on the Jerry Springer show come from? They absolutely must be actors; I find it impossible to believe they are for real and that their dialog is not scripted. My question isn’t whether everything is fake (just like most “reality” shows) but just, literally, where are the actors found? I doubt they have casting calls splayed in the industry rags, and no good agents would send their clients there, so what is the underground, secretive manner that folks looking for quick cash can get a job on Jerry Springer?

Third, how in the world do people get hit by trains? No disrespect intended to anyone who has lost a loved one in such a horrific manner, but really, how does this happen? Such an incident occurred again in our city; a mother and daughter didn’t make it across the tracks in time. Now, if you are with your kid and anywhere near a train track, why would you walk or drive across it if a train is coming to begin with? Aren’t there barriers which come down? And can’t you hear it from a half mile away? This happens time and again, leaving me absolutely baffled-another mystery of life leaving me shaking my head this morning.

I had more, but I’ll save them for another day. Thank goodness for these frustrating questions in life-they keep me from spending even more energy on the rest of my problems…Think about things you’d like answers to today, and you’ll see what I mean.
