Is it fair to ask if jail is another career move for Paris Hilton?
Thus far, the infamous publicity attracting part time actress has built a decent media personality career on nothing more than being Paris Hilton, pretty rich celebrity, and has thus managed to appear in some television shows and several movies where her name some times gets equal billing with the title, if nothing else. This may actually make Paris a movie star since top billing is a prerequisite, but there is no telling what Hollywood talent scouts think of her since she has not been challenged as an actress thus far and no producer may be so foolhardy as to challenge Paris’ talents. There may not even be a need to reveal her best talents since she has some qualities many actresses would kill for such as the ability to attract crowds and have her picture splattered in black ink all over the pages of some of the most disreputable tabloids in the country. What more does she need? She does get paid for her work and is allowed to act like a princess. Privacy and dignity, clearly, are not on the table.
Now think of the histrionics in jail and the raw drama in court. Paris Hilton, Hollywood American media darling, has appeared with counsel and family in court and given a taste for justice that she does not have the stomach to relish.
But all this legal drama has revealed one big problem she does have since it appears she is either too poor or too economical to hire a chauffeur, solving her problems in manifold ways. She no longer would have to drive herself any place. She could drive her chauffeur to drink and should something go wrong she has an immediate fall guy. Perhaps she has a passion for fast cars that she has to get over. Perhaps she is not thoughtful enough to invoke her Constitutional right against self incrimination. Perhaps she is looking to expand her dramatic repertoire and show she can act with the best and worst in our society.
Whatever the explanation, Paris has been thrown in the slammer with common criminals and is reported to be miserable. So much for justice. This is not an inspirational story, let me tell you.
One direct result of all this I expect is that some clever Hollywood minds are already plotting their next move with Paris. Including “Paris On Sunset Boulevard, Is Hellfire And Brimstone Her Next Day Gig?,” “Devil’s Island, Not Paris,” and “Paris Hilton’s Jailhouse Rock.”
Think of the audience reaction: repulsion, screaming. Shortness of breath, a thrill a second. Also, there is that old ditty about Paris in the summer when it sizzles.
Why, oh, why do I love Paris? I don’t think I do but France is home to Cannes and the Can Can. Don’t forget “you can Can Can, too!”
