My expertise extends from the esoteric such as burning hydrogen to the unpredictability of the stock market and my writing makes me a jack of all trades and exasperated master of none. I have had some influence over national wildfire and water policy and there are hints of a change in energy policy, BUT as Samuel Goldwyn once said, "A verbal promise is not worth the paper it is written on."

The purpose of this little essay is to endorse Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for President and Mike Huckabee for the Republican nomination, for what its worth.

I have several reasons for this.  First and most importantly, this country has already suffered from the Clintons for eight years.  We received false promises shallow thinking and international turmoil.  Take Osama bin Laden, please.  I do not believe the deliberate bombing of a pharmaceutical company with no real benefit other than to aggravate a very dangerous man is much of a recommendation.  Then there were the false promises made to change things.  Hillary is very good at this, not expecting any sort of accountability.  Remember the economy has not been good and I blame fakery as much as anything else.  Worse the prospect of a Hillary Clinton victory brings up the image of a Clinton dynasty, something Democrats of her ilk rail against with vigor if it is someone with a good business background so if succession is not good for anyone else why should it be good for Hillary Clinton.

Clearly, I would prefer a hope peddler to someone who does not do what she is supposed and for whom there is little expectation of things changing.

Most of the other Democrats from Joe Biden to Christopher Dodd to Bill Richardson are not going anywhere so there is no need to worry much about what they are promoting, except to hope that they will not impose a lot of unnecessary patronage schemes on a struggling economy.

As for John Edwards, I continue to ask not only where is his money but is the money safe?  I mean for a man who appears to think the mere acquisition of a goodly sum of money is at best dishonest and is surely a topic for close scrutiny I want to question his ability to handle high finances.  Keep in mind the national economy has serious problems and his vacuous rhetoric makes it clear that he is not the man to get things rolling again.

As for the Republicans, most of them are not going anywhere so they can be quickly dismissed.  John McCain, for example, has a good record as one of the few candidates with  military experience, but for some pockets of patriotism, his candidacy is being treated very, very poorly.

As for Fred Thompson, even Mitt Romney thought he would be more of a political threat than he is.  But thus far he has not caught on and it does not appear he is going to get a political head of steam going so I think he can be written off.

Of course, Rudy Giuliani has recently been dumped on for all sorts of things like his marriage to Judith Nathan to his hiring of Bernard Kerik.  I mean if he was not getting along with the fantastic Donna Hanover, then perhaps he should be entitled to hook up with another woman.

That leaves Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee.  I personally do not believe that Mitt Romney has what it takes to beat Hillary’s various nefarious patronage schemes.  I do think Mr. Huckabee does have what it takes and therefor want to make it clear that I would prefer him as the Republican nominee.

So to summarize, I think Barack Obama would be the best Democratic nominee and Mike Huckabee would be best for the Republicans.
