With Hillary Clinton’s clear primary win in Pennsylvania, the political battle between Barack Obama and his arch nemesis, the ever present and vocal Hillary Clinton, appears likely to continue on to the Democratic Convention. The purpose?
1.
Well, she is representing women and he is standing up for minorities. She is not putting out for him and he isn’t going to mollycoddle her. A perfect political marriage.
It is not hard to understand this conflict based on where they come from politically. Hillary’s marriage practices have led me to accuse her of farming out the hot sweaty work. Based on this, I also question the notion that she is a good woman since it flies in the face of the fact she is not doing what she is supposed to be doing. On the other hand, what she stands for is not a crime, but a fraud, something they appear to like in fantasy land called Washington.
Senator Obama, for his part, is taking advantage of her weakness to slime and shake her candidacy down for political gain. He has done this in the past. He won the Illinois Democratic Senate nomination because Blair Hull, a major opponent was accused of fighting with his wife. His supporters considered this abusive. Senator Obama’s camp made hay of this spousal abuse and went on to win the nomination. Of course, Senator Obama is determined to fight off Hillary and leave her in the lurch.
The same problem cropped up for a significant Republican opponent, Jack Ryan, who was accused by his wife of having unusual sexual fantasies. Mr. Ryan also took it on the political chin. Another victim of a good old fashioned political shake down.
So Senator Obama has shown a bad habit of taking advantage of his opponents personal problems to claim the top spot politically for the obvious purpose of having his way.
That appears to be what this campaign is about. How much can you get away with and not worry about consequences.
Jobs lost to imports are not coming back. Subsidies are expensive. Nothing proper is being done about energy and other important economic problems that face this country. Yet the candidates campaign like they are the lion’s meow, having solutions for problems they are not solving.
The liberal New York Times has pointed out that more people are incarcerated in this country than in other nations. Well, sure. Guns are legal here. Drugs are more of a crime here. Sex is a crime. This country arrests illegal immigrants. The Times does not take a position on a solution. So I am going to wait to see how this plays out.
But as I have been pointing out, particularly on energy, Washington politicians have a tendency to be as phony as a tin doubloon or, if you want, a three dollar bill.
