Barry Barack Hussein Obama is a liberal. That means he is more interested in civil rights than military force of arms or establishment of authority, for example, even as he appears to take his ascendancy to power as a natural birth right. He not only thinks he is the boss, he expects to be treated as the supreme leader of the United States and possibly the entire free world. The brouhaha over the arrest of his friend Henry Lewis Gates, to be sure, amply shows this all the while being clouded as it is by its small nature and the fact Professor Gates was giving the investigating officer a lot of lip, tell it to yo ma, know what you can do you know what I mean, While arguing with the police comes naturally if it is your own home, calming down and being quiet is generally recommended in most cases not requiring an apology. If they are real cops, it is normally best to follow directions less the risk of a gun being used to enforce order or some such thing is encountered.
So how far left is Barry Barack Hussein Obama? He has already made it clear he believes in big government, big spending, hassling the private sector and government supervision of profit making businesses with wage limits on big earners his big selling point thus far, since he represents what he feels are poor people and appears to want to make everyone poor, truth be told. No more making huge bucks on the free market under his watch. While his money is safe, there may be no limit to the questions raised about private earners and earnings. I mean he does not seem to believe in the right to make honest money unless it is in the cause of poverty politics, don’t you know.
He has watched Wall Street melt down on low capital requirements and has led the public investment in two major auto makers and several large financial institutions because times are hard and they found making money doing business the old fashioned way too difficult. Talk about the heavy hand of big government. Demand fuel economy, oil the way with federal money and you get big sales in support of a government program that Washington wants and likes big time in the name of energy independence although the auto makers are becoming more and more dependent on government hand outs due to adverse operating conditions and restrictive regulations compromising their capacity to earn money.
Now we are on to health care where politicians practice medicine without a license by choosing what bills get paid for what procedures and with what medicines and how to pay for them and are not ashamed to blow smoke into mirrors when it comes to public discussions of health care so they want vaccines to prevent hypothetical plagues but not antibiotic or antiviral cures to save lives and reduce suffering, this being the fiscal path that brings them the greatest positive responses and the biggest political returns and maxes out their happiness, don’t you know, but may not particularly address specific medical problems since disease prevention gets to be a big government campaign while cures entail too much private initiative with little public praise and kudos. You can also see where the partisanship is coming from since it is most likely that the Republican core is going to pay while receiving little in the way of benefit.
You can also see where he stands in his lack of ongoing interest in fighting wild fires and flood prevention. That does not appear to be where he’s coming from as far as constituencies are concerned. He is not focused on protecting private property or even the making of money. Indeed, he is mainly interested in sharing the wealth with an emphasis on free money, not running a business. He believes in share and share alike with honesty being less important as the tax questions raised about his nominees made clear as well as the continuing questions about Congressman Rangel and exposing unfair favors from mortgage lenders does not seem to be what interests Representative Ed Towns.
After health care, it will be on to immigration where the law seems to be to hassle newcomers unless the new Administration wants to fawn over them with benefits and privileges. If Washington wants to waive their standards at you, you can get a permanent waiver, just wait long enough.
So he wants to keep the government involved in all the areas he cares about and addresses and has shown little interest in private initiative and free enterprise where you can make big money that some times raises important questions that government officials are not so keen about, in any important sense of that term, let me tell you.
As for education, despite the No Child Left Behind law or perhaps because of it, reading, writing and arithmetic have become important as if they were not previously. All in all, Barry Barack Hussein Obama cares and is still looking for change you can believe in even if you don’t anyhow.
